How can Cognitive Hypnotherapy help you?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a modern and highly effective approach developed by author and trainer Trevor Silvester that combines the learnings of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with latest advances in Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

I have worked successfully with a wide range of issues including self confidence, anxiety, phobias  to substance abuse (addictions), trauma recovery and stopping smoking. I have also worked with clients who wish to become more motivated, management stress, control pain and performance issues.
I offer a confidential, professional and caring service and abide by the ethics of the National Council for Hypnotherapy. I am fully insured and seek to operate at the highest standards of professionalism. Your well being is my uppermost concern. For example hypnosis is considered the most effective way of giving up smoking, according to the largest-ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit, according to New Scientist magazine.

As well as Cognitive Hypnotherapy there are a number of techniques used by NLP practitioners. NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) was created in the USA after Richard Bandler and John Grinder studied hugely effective therapists including Virginia Satir, Milton Erickon and others.

They created effective change work techniques that are very effective. “NLP fuses several approaches to change and provides us with tools to understand how the language of our mind creates and runs the patterns we run have in life”For example the  “NLP fast phobia cure”  can be used to reduce dramatically,  if not remove a client`s phobia..   I have posted below a Youtube clip of NLP Practitioner Steve Andreas in the USA following up 25 years later on his client. In the Phobias section of my site I also post the original intervention.
Another useful technique from NLP is called “anchoring” and it uses the ability of every mammal (including humans) to respond to a conditioned response.  We use anchoring to link a positive emotion  (eg self confidence or relaxation) with a sensory trigger (a colour, a smell or a certain feeling or sound).  Imagine being able to access an emotion or resourceful feeling like motivation or self confidence whenever you need to.
